Glasgow-based artist Zoe Graham has released an alternative version of her 2020 single ‘Sleep Talking’, the second track from her upcoming ‘Gradual Move – Alterations EP’, a collection of reworked previously released tracks.
The full EP is due for release on the 24th of September which coincides with the one year anniversary of the Gradual Move EP, with Zoe saying of Sleep Talking:
“The original dark and moody atmosphere of Sleep Talking is retained in this new alternative version. Lilting vocal rhythms and deep woody acoustic sounds are the driving force behind the song. Surrounded by audio scapes and real personal voicemails, I retell the story of nightly revelations with a truth never heard before.”
In ‘Gradual Move – Alterations EP’ Zoe retells her stories of denial, fear, truth and acceptance, the main tales of her original ‘Gradual Move EP’. This time, she revisits the songs to explore their deeper meaning, musically and sonically. Although the lyrics are the same, everything else feels very different. Zoe shows us that although we may find ourselves in new distant territory, you’re never too far away from home. As the EP continues, the sound develops as Zoe tells the stories of Know By Now and Fault Lines.
In these songs, Zoe uses real voicemails sent by friends and family, and sounds of her day-to-day life to convey the reality of her personal predicament she finds herself in.
Previously, Zoe has supported artists such as Kate Nash, KAWALA and Rae Morris in venues across the UK, and is due to perform at Liverpool Sound City this October.
