The music programme for XpoNorth 2016 has been announced. 66 bands from all over the world will descend on Inverness in JuneXpo North

This week Radio One announced the line-up for the “In New Music We Trust Stage” for it’s Big Weekend. The “new” bands playing include Biffy Clyro (about to release 7th album),  Bring Me To The Horizon (formed in 2003), Craig David (been releasing shite music for god knows how long), The Last Shadow Puppets (Alex Turner has released 5 albums with Arctic Monkeys, I dunno who the other pretender is) Tame Impala (3 albums in) Panic At The Disco! (See Craig David). This must be a kick in the teeth for any up and coming bands looking to get a chance… but fear not this week also see’s the annual Wide Days convention take place in Edinburgh and XpoNorth have just announced a 66 band music programme of new and up and coming bands and artist from all over the world that will showcase at the event on 8-9 June in Inverness.

I was delighted to be asked to be on this years selection panel and I am delighted to see a number of the bands I selected have made the final line-up.

Festival Director, Amanda Millen, said: “Giving a platform to emerging talent and offering free practical, hands-on support is what we are all about. Showcasing the best new music has always been an integral part of the festival, but XpoNorth is now a wide-reaching festival which brings together a host of elements under one creative umbrella and completely FREE to attend all you have to do is register as a delegate.

“We have key players in the fields of screen, broadcast, gaming, fashion, writing, publishing and music taking part over the course of the two days and two nights. If you are trying to forge a career in the creative industries, then Inverness on 8th and 9th June is THE place to be. You’ll also be able to hear the music of artists everyone will be talking about in the next year!”

The full music schedule will be published along with the full festival programme on Wednesday 4th May 2016. Look out for more announcements in the coming days and weeks!
