Glasgow based duo Poster Paints have released their new single ‘Never Saw It Coming’ via Olive Grove Records, seamlessly melding together the glorious, 90s indie-pop tinged vocals of Carla J Easton with the rich shoegaze guitar of Simon Liddell. Think the grit of The Twilight Sad, the melodies Teenage Fanclub, the vocals of Camera Obscura’s Traceyanne Campbell, a combination so timeless that it feels as if Poster Paints should have existed for many years already.
Poster Paints are Simon Liddell (Frightened Rabbit, Olympic Swimmers) and Carla J Easton (TeenCanteen). They released their debut single ‘Number 1’ earlier this year, fusing together two burning talents who met initially through Carla’s work with The Vaselines. The track was described as “reverb-splattered, riotous guitar melodies and supercharged vocals with jangle-pop primacy” (The Line of Best Fit) and received extensive play from Marc Riley via BBC 6Music, BBC Introducing and BBC Radio Scotland. It was released on vinyl postcard for Record Store Day, with both tracks supported by Creative Scotland.
The duo has also announced their debut headline show for 7th October at Glasgow Poetry Club, tickets are on sale now here. They have also been confirmed as support for three shows with Teenage Fanclub next month, see below for full details
