There has been loads of great local music released over the last couple of months. Here is part 2 of the Alive & Amplified catch up.
The Deadline Shakes – New Album – ‘Zealots’
I was sent the lead single ‘Phonecalls In The Bath’ a few months ago for radio play. The first thing that got my attention was how much lead singer Greg Dingwall sounds like early 2000’s Delays. That is no bad thing in my ears. A cracking album throughout with great harmonies and great songs from from start to finish. I am looking forward to seeing The Deadline Shakes live in 2016.
Rachel Alice Johnson – Debut Single – ‘Open Angel’
Rachel Alice Johnson is a new name to me. She got in touch to tell me about her debut single ‘Open Angel’ which was released on 3rd December. Not only is Rachel a cracking singer songwriter but she is a very talented painter as well. Have a look at some of her paintings here.
The Van T’s – New EP – ‘Laguna Babe’
One of my favourtie bands of 2015. I saw these guys live at Electric Fields when they stepped in last minute to replace Kloe. Twin sisters Hannah & Chloe Van Thomson joined by Shaun Hood & Joanne Hood make up this surf wave 4-piece who have drawn comparisons to Honeyblood. A re-worked version or ‘Growler’ was the lead track and the title track is a former Track Of The Week on my radio show at Shore Live.
Black Cat Bone – Debut Album – ‘Growl’
Black Cat Bone are a stunning Blues Rock band hailing from Edinburgh. Having released a live EP on bandcamp I am delighted the full album ‘Growl’ is now out for everyone to hear. They will support Miracle Glass Company at The Mash House on 17th December. That is sure to be a great night. Get along to it and look out for more Black Cat Bone gigs in 2016.
Check out these great back and be sure to come visit Alive & Amplified again soon for all the newest releases from Scotland’s best band.
