New Scottish Releases – 26th October

Alive & Amplified rounds up the best new releases from Scotland this week.

It’s been a while since we have a written round-up of the best new releases from Scotland but with these 4 crackers coming out this week it was time to sit down at the laptop and do some writing. Who knows I may even do a non-Scottish post this week too.

The Van T’s – Suis-Je Cool?

Le Van T’s ask “Am I Cool?” Yes, yes you are! The Van T’s have released their first new music in a year and it’s great to have them back. ‘Suis-Je Cool?’ is dedicated to those who feel like they struggle to fit in, but should embrace everything about themselves.  The Van T’s play at the Mac Arts Centre in Galashiels on 7th od December with support from Heavy Rapids. It’s only 45 minutes on the train from Edinburgh. Get along.

The Ninth Wave – Sometimes The Silence Is Sweeter

It’s been a busy year for Glasgow based The Ninth Wave. As well as line-up changes they have been up and down the country either touring or playing festivals. They have also released 2 EP’s ‘Never Crave Attention’ and ‘A Wave Goodbye To The People Who Said I’s Win’. They show no signs of taking a break with new release ‘Sometimes’ The Silence Is Sweeter’ out today and gigs coming up in London on 30th November and a massive homecoming show at St. Lukes in Glasgow on 21st December.

Glassmasterer – Be Here Tonight

Hot on the heels of double A-side ‘Last Chance To Make Plans’ & ‘GhGhGhGhost’ Edinburgh based Lewis Bigham AKA Glassmasterer has joined up with Jack Hinks and Bourbon Street 5 and they have dropped ‘Be Here Tonight’ Stick it on and have a dance. Glassmasterer recently supported Future Get Down at The Mash House and played there again last night with Austrailia’s Haiku Hands.

The 101 – First & Last

I first heard The 101 when they submitted a track for the A&R Feedback panel I was part of at Off The Record in Edinburgh last year (By the way… Off The Record returns to Edinburgh and Dundee in November. Info and tickets here). They have previously supported Fickle Friends, Fatherson, Vistas and Be Charlotte. They play The AGP Christmas Gig in Aberdeen on 7th December with Catholic Action, The Ninth Wave, Indigo Velvet, Zoe Graham and more.
