New Releases – 27/06/2017
Alive & Amplified rounds up the latest releases from Scotland with music from Future Get Down, Turtle, The Youth & The Young & Noah Noah.
The new releases are flying out of Scotland at the minute. This will be part 1 of 2 blogs in the next week looking at some of the best new music coming out of Scotland.
Future Get Down – End Of The World After Party – New Single – Out Now
Ex-Homework members Oli Kass and Ally Dennis have teamed up with Jeanne Laidlaw, Brian Pakora and Sam Bidgood to create Future Get Down. With a string of gigs under their belt, including Xpo North and Glasgow’s Stag & Dagger, and an Electric Fields show in September it’s looking like a busy summer. ‘End Of The World After Party’ is the follow-up to 2016’s ‘Dreamkillers’ and is available for your listening pleasure now.
Turtle – Human – Album – Out 30th June
Glasgow based producer Turtle’s EP ‘Colours’ was a favourite of mine back in the Shore Radio days. So I was delighted when new tracks started to appear online. The latest of these releases ‘Solar’ is definitely one that will be on the A&A sound system throughout the summer. Debut album ‘Human’ is out on 30th June. It is atmospheric brilliance, enjoyed best with the lights down low. Have a listen below and check out Turtle’s back catalogue.
The Youth & The Young – Lanterns – New Single – Out Now
Following up from 2016’s ‘Gestures’ album The Youth & The Young are back with a brand new single ‘Lanterns’. You can stream the single at all the usual places or you can help yourself to a free download at their Bandcamp. The 8-piece who are based between Edinburgh and Dunfermline have a busy summer of festivals planned with shows at Butefest, Belladrum and Stowed Out Festival.
Noah Noah – Cannibal Calling – New Single – Out Now
The Noah Noah sound is getting bigger and bigger. In fact, every time I see them now there is an additional member. A brass and string section has recently been added, enhancing the live sound. Noah Noah have only been on the circuit since early 2016 but already have amassed a great following in Edinburgh and beyond. They recently played up at XPO North and will be at Kendal Calling & Belladrum.
