Edinburgh Gig Of The Week – Let Loose For Belarus – Safari Lounge – Thurs 28th August
This week Alive & Amplified Gig of the Week is the Let Loose For Belarus Fundraiser at the Safari Lounge in Abbeyhill with The Abbeyhillbillys, Carbona Not Glue, Northern Upland Sheep Strategy, The Trama Dolls and Jam with DJ sets from DJ Spider and Rank Marvin.
It’s a bit of a different Gig of the Week this week as it isn’t in a typical Edinburgh music venue. It is for a very good cause however and I hope as many of you as can get down to the Safari Lounge on Thursday night to check this out.
Stand International have been working on various projects in Belarus since 2007. They have been volunteering and working with children and families, orphanages, schools, hospitals, rehabilitation centres and disabled day centres. One amazing example of the work this is the the Bridge of Hope Camp. This is a children’s centre based in woodlands near the city of Mogilev and their story is as follows. In January 2007, Stand International’s partners, seeing a need for such a service, purchased an abandoned camp in Belarus. The purpose was to convert it into a summer camp in Belarus for orphans and other disadvantaged children in Belarus. To find out more about Stand International and what they do around the world visit their website at www.standinternational.org.
This gig has been arranged to raise funds to send 10 volunteers to Belarus to refurbish a family centre. So get down to the Safari Lounge and Let Loose For Belarus.
Now for a little taster of the music that will be live on the night.
