In some media sources Kathryn Joseph winning the 4th annual Scottish Album of the Year (SAY) award is being described as a shock win. Not here, not at Alive & Amplified and not at Shore Live.

Any regular readers of this blog or listeners to the radio show will know that Ian Schofield and I have been playing, praising and banging on about ‘Bones You Have Thrown Me and Blood I’ve Spilled’ pretty much since we got back on air in November. No album or person deserves the SAY Award more in my eyes.

Kathryn who hails from Aberdeen beat of Scottish heavyweights Paolo Nutini and Belle & Sebastian to claim the prize with the former tweeting earlier in the night that he wanted ‘Bones You Have Thrown Me & Blood I’ve Spilled’ to win.

If you haven’t heard this amazing album yet you can listen to it and buy it in various forms on Bandcamp.  It is also Album Of The Week on this website and I will play 3 tracks from it on Shore Live on Wednesday 24th June.

Kathryn Joseph will be back in Edinburgh on 12th August when she plays Summerhall alongside Bill Wells & Aidan Moffat as part of the festival. She will also be at Wickerman. Be sure to see her live as it’s going to be Usher Hall sized venues next for this amazing Scottish talent.
