Boohoohoo + The Little Kicks + Noah Noah + Oh Jay – King Tuts – 12th January
January blues? Not a chance at King Tuts as their annual King Tuts New Year’s Revolution series of gigs returns for 2018. As always the month long programme brings together some of the best acts in Scotland. This Friday see’s Boohoohoo, The Little Kicks, Noah Noah & Oh Jay come together to provide the entertainment.
I am very excited about Boohoohoo in 2018. The electro-pop 3 piece released ‘Fire’ last year, the follow-up to 2016 EP ‘Debuthoohoo’ and it was a staple on this blog and the Summerhall Live podcast. I managed to see them live at Belladrum Festival last year and it did not disappoint. Expect synth, pop, lights & plenty of dancing. This one will definitely shake away the January blues.
The Little Kicks
I always describe The Little Kicks as veterans of the Scottish music scene but they truly are. ‘Boxing Clever’, the bands debut album was released in 2009 and in the last decade, they have become regulars at venues and festivals around the country. The live show is fantastic and last years album ‘Shake Off Your Troubles’ was one of my favourites of 2017.
Edinburgh’s Noah Noah kick off 2018 at Tuts after a busy 2017 which saw them release several singles, playing a load of gigs, both headlining and supporting and playing multiple festivals over the UK. 2018 will see Noah Noah head down to Liverpool for Independent Venue Week and they are planning an EP release.
I’ll admit, I know very little about Oh Jay so I will be looking forward to seeing them live for the first time on Friday night.
