A Move To Radio Summerhall

Alive & Amplified Radio Show now to be broadcast on Radio Summerhall.

Radio Summerhall

I am delighted to announce that in the next few weeks the weekly radio show posted on this website will be broadcast as part of a brand new station starting up at Edinburgh’s arts hub Summerhall.

As of this week it will replace Shore Live on Shore Radio. Ian Schofield and I would like to thank Ricky, Carly and everyone at Shore Radio for the opportunity to get back on the airwaves just over a year ago. We had a great time at the Leith based station but feel that now is the right time to move onto a new venture with Summerhall.  We wish everyone at Shore the best of luck and hope they continue with the excellent work.

The format at Radio Summerhall will be different in that the show will be pre-recorded and published on this site and at the Radio Summerhall. Unfortunately,  at this time, as this is a brand new venture we will not be able to broadcast live sessions, however we are confident of this function being back up and running in 2016. We are also looking at ways to broadcast live online.

There may also be a disruption to Ian & I hosting the show together for a few weeks but, again, we are confident in getting everything in place in the new year to continue to produce a local music radio show that Edinburgh can be proud of.

A little more about Radio Summerhall

Radio Summerhall aims to…

1. To offer great online music content you might not hear elsewhere. Our shows, currently The Reggae Basement, Back at the Control Tower (previously the Freaky Jazz Show), All Shook Up and Caledonia Uber Ellis, are pre-recorded but hopefully retain a live feel, with some of the fluffs and mistakes left in. Our aim is to upload these to the site at the same time every week, but in reality this often doesn’t happen so do follow us on Mixcloud to ensure you never miss a new show.

2. To support the other residents of Summerhall, giving them a voice to tell each other and the wider world what they’re up to. A huge array of talent and resources permanently reside in the building and we want you to hear their stories. Coming soon.
3. To support performers coming to Summerhall and to allow you, the audience, to gain a deeper insight into the work they’re producing. We chat to the creative minds behind the shows and upload short interviews to the site, which can be listened to either before or after you see their performance.
4. To deliver interesting documentary, political and storytelling shows covering a broad range of subjects, but focusing mainly on Scottish talent, issues and events.
This was a opportunity that we felt we couldn’t turn down. With some of the amazing projects going on at Summerhall, such as the series of Nothing Ever Happens Here gigs and the events during the Fringe it is a very exciting time to be involved at Summerhall and we look forward to getting started.
As always we are on the look out for music to be played on the show and to feature on other parts of the website so please get in touch via the contact page if you are in a band, run a label. PR or if your mates have some cracking band that you think should be featured here.
